University of Florida Simulator Gators Take Top Honors
Top Three Teams Competed in a Well-Matched Contest!
Sunday, June 6th was a busy day at the IIE Conference in Cancun, Mexico, as the final 3 teams competed in the last phase of the student simulation competition. The student teams had worked hard for months to resolve the challenges facing a real-world facility and their modeling solutions were "pitched" during the IIE Conference to the judges and the assembled audience. Adding to the excitement was the addition of one more simulation problem to be resolved before presenting to the panel of judges.
This year's contest was the most competitive so far, with 88 initial teams narrowed down to the 3 final teams who competed in Cancun. The stakes were raised this year as the prize money for the first-place team was increased to $5000. The winning teams were:
1st place: Simulator Gators - University of Florida
2nd place: Olympiakos - Lehigh University
3rd place: Innovative Thinkers - Seoul National University of Technology
Congratulations to all the winners!
